21st Century Transhumanism: Robots, Cyborgs & Techno-Humans

In this four-part Lesson #4, Student(s) will learn about the work of Francis Bacon, Rene Descartes, and Julian Huxley, providing a qualitative distinction vs dimensional distinction in scientific experimentation: reliability, hypothesis, observation, and validity. Student(s) will be exposed to 21st Century technology, transhumanism, robots, cyborgs, and techno-humans. In a fast-paced changing world, the human is getting some upgrades; but are they ethical, or healthy, or moral? Student will learn about the concept of reaching human perfection as juxtaposed with Creation, anthropomorphic dynamics, our ubiquitous cyber-world, the next evolutionary advancement for mankind, bio-technologies, genetic cures, cloning, and nanotechnology.
Theology and science are seen as competing theories. Student will explore neural modification, ethical monitoring, and modern philosophical views of Locke and Hume vs Biblical wisdom. A quick note about the Study Notes that come with Lesson #4, as do all 32 of my Online Lessons, I strongly suggest not looking at, or using the Study Notes prior or during a class, this is so you can work on your note taking skills and compare them to the Study Notes post-class. It’s not just about learning but growing too.

No prerequisite courses are required for Lesson #4; however, Lesson #1 The Science of Taking Great Notes: Natural Observation would be helpful if note-taking skills require further development. NOTE: I strongly suggest that the Student(s) not use the Study Notes provided when first watching a video lecture(s). Learning how to take notes is vital in many areas of school and life. Student(s) should use Study Notes to check accuracy and content with rough notes for Lesson #4. In my course, The Science of Taking Great Notes, I talk about making notes, putting thought into action, don’t just write down what I say, but enter in to your notes your emotions, thoughts, and interjections.
Your valued Student(s) will need the following for class today: several blank sheets of paper, pen or pencil, and a quiet place to place to plug-in mentally while in class, a personal computer, tablet, or smart phone to watch videos, and note taking ability (or help if needed).
No other resources are needed for this Lesson. A dictionary/thesaurus is recommended to look up meanings of words to help expand your vocabulary. Materials are needed however, for Lesson #4 to complete course homework assignment of designing and producing a model of his or her product.
