Adobe InDesign CC for Beginners

This course includes downloadable instructor files to work with and follow along. InDesign CC is Adobe's popular subscription-based page layout, design, and publishing application. In this introduction to InDesign class, we cover all the features you can use to create professional-quality posters, newsletters, brochures, reports, and more.

We begin with an overview of the InDesign interface and how to navigate the workspace and customize it to best suit the way you work. We quickly get into creating shapes and text boxes, applying color, and understanding the links panel. Then we do a deep-dive series of lessons on placing and editing images, special effects, and text wrapping; we will create a poster to put all these skills to practical use.

The course also covers important organizational tools like layer management, guides, and grids. One comprehensive section is dedicated to mastering text and typographical elements, including a series of lessons on paragraph, character, object, and nested styles. We then bring it all together and discuss how to define and use parent pages, which are useful templates for repeated design elements.

We'll also look at ways to personalize your InDesign preferences so you can work efficiently with the features and styles you favor most often.
