About This Course

In this course, we will dive deeper into Civil 3D assemblies and subassemblies, building on essentials knowledge to elevate your skills. We'll start by exploring subassembly codes, a key concept for understanding subassemblies in depth. From there, we'll modify code set styles to customize subassembly appearance in the assembly mode.

We will also use code set styles to adjust corridor appearance in both plan views and cross-sections. Understanding how to label assemblies or copy them between drawings is another valuable skill we'll cover. Additionally, we'll address how to import subassemblies in PKT file format into Toolpalettes, enabling you to incorporate external subassemblies seamlessly into your projects.

The course then transitions to real-world design challenges, where you'll learn practical solutions using specific subassemblies. Key topics include:Linking subassembly parameters to other subassembliesCreating subassemblies from polylinesUsing conditional cut or fill subassembliesLeveraging horizontal target subassemblies for advanced corridor modeling, such as designing parking along a roadwayExploring various methods to model channels using generic links and comparing outcomes (e. g.

, holding slope & adjusting width vs. adjusting slope & holding width)Efficiently displaying dynamic road reserves in cross-sectionsExtending layerworks and calculating the cross slope of existing roadsWe'll also examine dual carriageway assemblies with different median types and explore various superelevation options, including a detailed explanation of the superelevation axis of rotation (AOR). The course also addresses corridor widening and the challenges related to measuring road width and slope perpendicularly to the road centerline.
