About This Course
Welcome to the overview of biomedical engineering. For more than 15 years, I have been working in the biomedical engineering field, in both academia and industry. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to teach different groups of people about biomedical engineering.
I realized that many Youtube and other Udemy courses are dealing with individual subjects in biomedical engineering, but it was not easy to find some topics which cover in macro view, especially with career perspectives. So I decided to present it by myself. Biomedical engineering (BME) includes a wide variety of topics, so it is difficult for even biomedical majors to understand how things work outside of their field.
Also, BME itself is changing very quickly. This course is designed for those who want to choose a major or are curious about what BME does. This is a lecture to show a forest rather than a small tree.
Therefore, it did not include detailed mathematics, formulas, coding, or physics laws, but focused more on what it can do, why it is needed, and how it can contribute to humanity. It also shows the comparison with other adjacent disciplines (for example, biotechnology), multi-disciplinary characteristics (medicine, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, computer engineering, material engineering, and so on), and recent industry trends. The actual results of BME are, of course, used a lot in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories, but you will find that there are so many items that are often used in daily life.
