About This Course
This course explore the interesting world of cirtcle geometry and its practical applications. You will master essential concepts like angles, arcs, sectors, chords, and segments and learn to apply them into solving real life problems. Circle is fundamental to many fields of study and so, as you poceed deep into the course, you will develop logical reasoning skills as you master the theorems, proofs, relations and other concepts that make up circle geometry.
It is a comprehensive course in circle geometry. The introductory lecture begins with extensive definition of circle, its constitutents and explanation of theorems associated with circle geometry. You will learn about radius and diameter of a circle, circumference of a circle, length of arc (minor and major arc)of a circle, a chord, area of a sector ,segment (minor and major segment) of a circle and center of a circle.
The circle theorems covered in the lectures include angles in the same segment, angle in a semi-circle,perpendicular line drawn from the center to a chord, cylic quadraliteral, angle at center vs angle at the circumference, tangent to a circle, angles in alternate segment and tangent from an external point. Examples are given for each theorem to help the student learn where the theorem is use. Subsequent lectures generally include the application of circle geometry with plane shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, cube, cuboid, other polygons, cylinder, pyramid, sphere and so on).
It is not limited to inscribing or circumscribing plane shape in a circle but situations like tangent to or distance of the plane shape from a circle are covered in the course. The main areas of interest include geometric problems leading to angle, length, area and volume measuration, circumscribing plane shapes in a circle and semi-circle commonly use to find the radius, area of a circle, finding the length of an arc of a circle or semi-circle ,area of sector, inscribing a plane shapes in a circle or semi-circle,finding the length, area or portion of area of the plane shape, circle or semi-circle. Solving problems relating to circle or semi-circle and polygons.
