The title of this course is therefore Thermodynamics made easy. This course deals primarily with the first and second law of thermodynamics as applied to closed and open systems. Steady flow energy equation numericals are included to clarify the application of first law in Engineering systems.

Heat Engine Refrigerator and Heat Pump all three cyclic devices are studied from thermodynamic perspective. Performance assessment parameters like efficiency and Coefficient of performance are explained and numericals based on these are introduced. Both the Kelvin Planck Statement and Clausius statement of second law of thermodynamics is explained.
