Develop essential music & audio skills with expert instruction and practical examples.
In this level, learners will advance from basic letter forms to the art of composition, where letters, words, and decorative elements are harmoniously arranged to create visually balanced calligraphic works. The focus will be on style exploration, allowing students to discover how traditional scripts can be adapted and personalized without losing their cultural authenticity. We begin by studying the rules of composition in Arabic calligraphy, such as symmetry, spacing, and flow.
Students will learn how to structure a piece so that the eye naturally follows the intended reading path. This involves practicing the placement of words in relation to one another, experimenting with vertical and horizontal arrangements, and understanding the use of empty spaces as a design element. Learners will then explore different calligraphy styles in greater depth, including Thuluth, Diwani, and Naskh, while also being introduced to modern calligraphy approaches that integrate abstract shapes and creative flourishes.
Through guided exercises, students will develop the skills to mix styles effectively while maintaining aesthetic integrity. The practical component of this level will include project-based assignments, where students will create medium-scale compositions, such as verses, poetry lines, or meaningful quotes. The instructor will emphasize critical self-evaluation techniques, helping students identify strengths and areas for improvement.
