About This Course
This course provides the knowledge of how to flexibly use design features of an organization to achieve the desired outcomes. We begin by reviewing the theory and practice of organization design (OD), including critically appraising current and predicted change in organization design capability. We then evaluate the use of group dynamics and organization development approaches to organization design to shape organizational climates.
This leads to a conversation about Galbraith's STAR model and the role and implementation of organization design in delivering competitive advantage. The course highlights organization design as a techno-structural OD methodology to focus on congruence and alignment to build high performance environments.
