About This Course

Today's leaders need more than technical skills. They need self-awareness, interpersonal, group, and systems skills to help them navigate in increasingly complex and cross-functional environments. They need to be the calm in the eye of the storm, adapting constantly to new challenges not as a lone warrior, but as a catalyst for teamwork.

Teamwork is the most important hack for a leader, but not always the easiest hack to access. Most arrive in leadership positions because they have been skilled and reliable contributors. Thinking back to their family of origin, which this course guides self-reflection on from the perspective of family systems thinking, leaders were often highly responsible kids, who are used to functioning independently and expect others to do the same.

They may live by the old adage, "If you want something done right, do it yourself. " Unfortunately that reflects a systems concept called "over-functioning," which actually causes "underfunctioning" in the rest of team and in the larger system. Hacks for balancing over and under functioning are an example of the systems thinking gems available in this course.

Your instructor, Gilmore Crosby, has worked with thousands of leaders at all levels, in organizations such as Dupont, ALCOA, Beiersdorf, PECO Nuclear, Entergy, Jamalco, Campari, Contadina, Treehouse, Red Stripe, Sound Transit, Moon Palace Resort, The Samish Indian Nation and many others. He is also senior faculty for the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS), and has written six books related to leadership. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to bear on on helping you become the most effective and agile leader you can be.
