Free, open source and funded largely by its community, Blender covers modelling, sculpting, animation, simulation, rendering and video editing in one program, and it has become a serious rival to commercial 3D suites. Independent artists, students, game developers and small studios use it. Its interface once scared people away; that reputation is outdated, but the depth of 3D itself still demands patience.
