Git

Linus Torvalds wrote Git to manage Linux kernel development, and it is now where almost all software is versioned, with every clone holding the full history. Every developer needs it, and so do more and more data scientists and infrastructure engineers. Git and GitHub are not the same thing: Git is the free tool on your machine, GitHub one of several services that host repositories.
