Designed at Google for networked services that big teams must maintain, Go became the language of cloud tooling: Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform are all written in it. It compiles to a single binary and has concurrency built into the language. People arriving from richer languages find it deliberately plain, and that restraint is the point rather than a shortcoming.
