Godot
Godot is a free, open-source engine with a dedicated 2D renderer alongside its 3D tools, exporting to desktop, mobile and the web. Games are trees of nodes, scripted in the Python-like GDScript or in C#. Hobbyists and indie studios pick it for its small, fast editor and absence of fees; console releases, though, go through third-party porting companies rather than a built-in export.
