Java

Banks, insurers and large public bodies have run their back ends on Java for decades, and much of that code is still being extended rather than replaced. Programs compile to bytecode for the Java Virtual Machine, a runtime that Kotlin and Scala share. Learners expect verbosity and an old-fashioned feel, but the modern language is noticeably leaner than its reputation.
