PyTorch
Researchers adopted PyTorch because models written in it behave like ordinary Python code, easy to step through and change, and industry followed. Most openly released large language models are trained or served with it, and the project is now governed by the PyTorch Foundation. Newcomers expect to need a powerful GPU from day one; for learning, a laptop or a free notebook service is enough.
