Objects, not plain text, pass between the commands of Microsoft's shell, which makes querying Active Directory, Exchange or Azure far less fragile than parsing output. Windows administrators and Azure engineers rely on it for any task repeated more than twice. It also runs on Linux and macOS, a fact many Unix administrators have not yet noticed.
