Finance and Accounting
Tax
Tax is the one part of finance nobody can opt out of. Individuals file returns, companies compute their profits tax and collect VAT or sales tax, and investors meet capital gains rules the moment they sell. Professional tax work divides into compliance, getting returns right and on time, and planning, arranging affairs lawfully so the bill is no larger than required. Rules differ by country, so this topic explains principles rather than rates.
Why this topic exists: Income, corporate, VAT and sales tax, capital gains and returns: CPA REG and the TCP discipline, ACCA Taxation and Advanced Taxation, CFP's Tax Planning domain; the one finance topic every adult meets.
