Salesforce certifications

The Platform Administrator credential is narrow and employable at the same time. It demonstrates that the holder can work in Setup, model objects and fields without leaving a mess for the next person, keep permissions defensible, build automation that survives contact with real users, and repair reporting somebody else abandoned. Every one of those skills is expressed in one supplier's vocabulary: a record type, a validation rule and a permission set have no waiting equivalent at a company running different software. Within the market that runs the platform, though, the certificate functions almost as a licence to practise. Recruiters screen on it, consultancies want it before they put somebody in front of a paying client, and an internal administrator who never sits it is asked about it in a review. The exam runs 105 minutes with sixty scored questions and up to five unscored items, is passed at 68 per cent in English and 65 per cent in Japanese, has no prerequisite, and comes with Salesforce's advice to administer an org for between six and twelve months first.

Who should book it

The credential fits the operations, sales-support or service person whose employer already owns an org and who has been doing administrator work for months without the title; the career changer who has chosen this ecosystem deliberately and accepts that the job search afterwards happens inside it; and the consultant who needs standing with a client's internal team. The questions sketch a business problem and expect the solution that needs the least building, a judgement that documentation alone does not produce and a free developer org with a stack of realistic tasks does. The credential does not fit a candidate who wants a certificate that opens doors across technology in general, or one whose regional job market contains few customers of the platform. Where administrator roles nearby amount to a short list, a wider credential such as PL-900 or MS-102 serves better, although neither goes as deep inside its own territory.
